About Us

Northern Beaches Musical Theatre is an amateur, not-for-profit musical theatre company established in 2017. We are dedicated to bringing captivating and high-quality musical theatre productions to our audiences. Whether taking part as a performer, getting involved behind-the-scenes, or joining us for a fabulous night of entertainment, we are putting the 'community' back into Community Theatre!

It began with a conversation around a campfire, and grew to sell out shows on the Northern Beaches. Starting with humble beginnings in a local school hall, we now stage epic productions at local venues, with hidden talent emerging from behind closed doors. The NBMT cast, band and crew dedicated their time in rehearsals to bring cracking show to local audiences.

Our team at Northern Beaches Musical Theatre is comprised of passionate individuals who share a love for musical theatre. Each member plays a vital role in bringing our productions to life, from performers to behind-the-scenes crew. Get to know the talented individuals who make our shows possible.

Director/Producer

Jody Green

Jody's passion for theatre began when directing her cousins in elaborate lounge room Christmas productions. While studying Theatre/Media at CSU Mitchell, she danced at the Bathurst 1000, tap danced in the all-women's musical Dinkum Assorted, and devised and directed a physical theatre piece looking at the parallels between sport and theatre. As well as the joy and excitement of 'show week', Jody is most proud of the community that has been built through Northern Beaches Musical Theatre.

Vocal Director/Producer

Vicki Chow

Vicki is a passionate vocal director and theatre producer with a background in choral performance, solo singing, and audiovisual production. She performs regularly across Sydney and brings experience in comedy and scriptwriting from her university studies. Also a published fiction author, Vicki is committed to fostering community and creativity. She has played a key role in growing the Northern Beaches Musical Theatre family and supporting emerging performers.

Musical Director

Neil Sheard

Neil’s adventures in music and performance started in his teens as a classically trained pianist. He has since combined his keys and vocal talent to perform solo ‘piano man’ shows, play solo resident pianist contracts and perform with cover and tribute bands in shows across Australia, USA and UK. He has spent many years in Musical Director roles - planning, leading and conducting music for productions, most recently ‘Strictly Ballroom’ and ‘We Will Rock You’ with NBMT.

Choreographer

Melanie Scott

Melanie’s best kept secret is her childhood obsession with Young Talent Time! This sparked an early career in dance and the performing arts. A 90’s Brent Street graduate, she went wherever her next job took her from cruise ships to an international circus in Japan, to principal of her own dance studio. Melanie now holds a BA in Media and Communications and has traded her tap shoes for a career in radio & news but still loves to dance.

Technical Director

Damian Gunesakara

Damian's love of music started at a young age through singing in youth choirs, community events and family concerts with his sister and cousins. Throughout high school, he performed as often as possible in school and church choirs, school bands and a cappella groups. After a long break, Damian's passion for music and theatre was reignited when joining the Northern Beaches Musical Theatre Group in 2017.
